Sheri Eckert and her husband, Tom Eckert, co-created Oregon's Measure 109, the first law in the United States to set up legal, regulated psilocybin services. Voters passed it in November 2020, and Sheri died that December, at 59.

Where gifts go

Grants pay for preparation, facilitation, integration and education at psilocybin service centers licensed by the Oregon Health Authority, and for lodging and meals at Community Leaders Resilience Fund retreats. They never pay for the psilocybin, which participants buy from the licensed center.

Grants are paid to the providers, never to the recipient. To put your gift toward one fund, name it in the "Use of funds preference?" box on the form. A gift that names no fund is unrestricted, so it can pay for any of the four funds and for the costs of running them.

  • Inward Dive FundFor justice-impacted people anywhere in the U.S., from formerly incarcerated adults to their families, attorneys and advocates. Grants cover preparation, facilitation and integration.
  • Community Leaders Resilience FundFor community leaders from across the country, in cohorts of four to eight. Grants pay for a retreat at Fernlove, a state-regulated service center in the hills west of Portland, with lodging and meals.
  • Soul Liberation FundFor Portland Metro residents with their own experience of addiction, housing insecurity, trauma or mental-health challenges who now work with people facing the same. Grants of $500 to $2,300 pay for professional facilitation.
  • Psilocybin Access FundFor adults with financial need. Grants average about $1,500 and pay for licensed facilitation. Raising money for this fund has been challenging, so there is very little funding for new grants right now.
